Introduction

There are two types of Top-Level domains (TLDs), generic and country code. Country Code Top Level Domain Names like ". CO. IN, . FIRM. IN, .IN, .NET. IN, . ORG. IN, . AC. IN, RES.IN, .GOV. IN, . MIL. IN, . IND. IN. (i.e. Individuals), GEN.IN (i.e. General) can be registered with the Domain Registrar in India. To prepare and file an application for the registration of a domain name with the NCST, which is the Domain Name administering body within the territories of India, the following information/documents are required:

The Applicant

The following details of the Applicant is required to register a Country Code Top Level Domain Name in India:

Phone/Fax Number
Email Address
Brief description of applicant, trademark or domain (e.g. Type of Organization, purpose for registering domain name)

Name & Address
Phone/Fax Number
Email Address

The Primary domain name server hostname & IP address, Secondary domain name server(s) hostname & IP Address, the Name of the Internet/Web service provider from whom internet services for operating domain name services are obtained must be furnished. At least the primary domain name server must be up, permanently connected to the interest, and configured correctly to respond to DNS requests for the domain, before the application is submitted. In most cases the Billing Contacts and the Administrative Contacts will be the Applicant. If either of the above is not, please provide the following details

The Details of the Domain Names - As for example www.lexorbis.co.in

Local Presence

Local address is required. Also Concurrent Trade Marks Registration for the Mark forming part of the domain name will be sufficient to get the registration. This does not apply for ".IND.IN and .GEN.IN."
