FICCI CASCADE organised a seminar titled, “Illicit Trade in Focus: State–Level Action Against Counterfeiting and Smuggling” on 30th June 2025 at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Recognising the widespread consequences of counterfeiting and smuggling on public health, safety, and economic well-being.
Keynote speaker Mr. Pranesh Pathak, Chief Commissioner of Customs (Ahmedabad Zone), emphasised the economic and security risks posed by organised smuggling. Discussions focused on enforcement strategies, regulatory reforms, and the role of awareness and inter-agency coordination in curbing illicit trade.
From psychotropic substances to counterfeit luxury goods, the scale of seizures underlined the evolving tactics of illegal networks and the need for a unified national and state-level response.
