The Symposium on Standard Essential Patent (SEP) Policy and Practices: A U.S. and India Perspective, was held on April 4-5, 2025, in New Delhi, hosted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in collaboration with the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
The two-day event featured discussions on the evolving SEP frameworks across the U.S., India, and Europe. along with a series of insightful presentations covering the roles of U.S. government agencies in standards and SEPs, injunction law in the United States, including the eBay framework, recent SEP developments and future trends in India, and developments in Europe, including the new EU Regulation on SEPs. The session concluded with an engaging Fireside Chat where Hon’ble Judges from the Supreme Court and High Court of Delhi discussed key judicial perspectives on interim injunctions, FRAND royalty determinations, anti-suit injunctions, and cross-border harmonisation of SEP treatment, followed by a Roundtable Discussion on recent case law developments.
