To mark World IP Day 2025, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) hosted an insightful conference on April 29 in New Delhi, celebrating creativity and innovation in music. Anchored in WIPO’s theme “IP & Music: Feel the Beat of IP,” the event featured panel discussions on ownership and innovation in music, alongside impactful addresses by Shri Javed Akhtar, Hon’ble Justice Prathiba M. Singh, and Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO.
Key discussions included capacity building for creators, the 2012 Copyright Amendment, posthumous rights, royalty collection, and the role of copyright societies in fair compensation. Panellists also explored the disruptive impact of AI, the rise of decentralised internet platforms, and the urgent need for regulation around training large language models on copyrighted content.
