The Copyright Act 1957 (the “Act”), supported by the Copyright Rules 2013 (the “Rules”), is the governing law for copyright protection in India. Apart from the statute, the judicial decisions by the Supreme Court of India and the different state high courts play a significant role in the development of copyright jurisprudence.
